Obama's presidency
Aside from policy, Presidential interaction with topics from our government book, and party views aside, I think Obama's biggest obstacle is to stand by his views, policies, and promises without being completely bias towards what will win him the reelection. I think that electing the first black president was such an enormous step that people have extremely high expectations and many of these expectations are very contingent on his reelection. This is a tough place to be in for Obama and I do not believe dissent is the highest form of patriotism. We should be praying that he can stand by his beliefs and dreams for our country and not fall into the clutches of the reelection monster.

What if his dreams aren't shared by a majority of citizens? Reelection would mean that enough voters approved of what he does in this term to want him back. I agree that this isn't the best way to be motivated, but if he is thinking about reelection, it will help him to stop and consider what direction the majority wants to go in. Whether or not the majority chooses right is another question, where being a little independent of a hope for reelection would be good.
ReplyDeleteRight on Clay, that monster is pretty huge and has scared a lot of president's before him. I think people may be expecting too much of Obama, but he is the President of the United States.
